PDF Tutorials

PDF tutorials are now available with more being worked on via my Patreon channel

I have been working on several PDF tutorials over the last few weeks, and I’m still very much wanting to create as many of these as possible,

Commission work is still going on and I’ve been working mainly on Terrain Pieces, once they’re are all done I’ll add the images to this websites gallery.

I also want my PDFs to be free to access for painters, there is a an option for people to donate and help support the work I’m doing, should people wish to but there really isn’t any obligation, it just helps me keep up to date with newer equipment or produce more PDFs over a given time.

I’ve been really lucky with several companies wanting to collaborate recently and they’ve sent me some amazing miniatures to work on.

Repaint

Over the past few months, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for figure repainting, particularly in the style of Cel Shading. A few months ago, I challenged myself to paint a small Goku figure in this style. The process was both fun and fascinating, offering a welcome departure from my usual painting style. It pushed my understanding of light and shadow placement, though it often left me feeling a bit perplexed.

Inspired by that experience, I decided to dive deeper into figure repaints. I began by searching Amazon for a suitable figure. I’ve since realised that many others in this space own 3D printers and print various styles, but that's not an option for me, given the space constraints I have. Eventually, I came across the Frieza statue (pictured above), which marked the beginning of a challenging but highly enjoyable process.

Working with greys and whites proved particularly difficult. I often found myself questioning how much I should emphasise shadows or focus on Frieza’s skin colour. In hindsight, this led to a finish that wasn't quite as perfect as I had originally envisioned, but it's still something I'm very proud of.

At the moment, this project is on a brief hiatus as I shift my focus to completing the Land Fortresses in the next few days. I'll share a final update on the Frieza repaint soon.

The Land Fortresses

Votann Land Fortresses!

Right now, or at least the time of the launch of this website, I’m working on three Leagues of Votann Land Fortresses.

It has been an interesting couple of weeks working on them. I have struggled finding my painting rhythm at times after being really busy for several months prior and having a quieter couple of weeks. I mistakenly threw myself into painting these with a two-week self-imposed deadline.

Though they have rekindled my interest in content creation, which has also led me to want to push a wider range of my work out there, for those who may want to hire my services and to just help give back to the community.

This rekindled interest in content creation led me to create a small behind-the-scenes video showcasing the beginning of the details for these rather large vehicles.

Video here: https://youtube.com/shorts/IFkzlZyjyWY

I have also created a couple of short-form tutorials, too, the first here: https://youtube.com/shorts/SJHRQ-sLTAc

More will be coming to the YouTube channel shortly, as currently, I only have the capacity to edit short-form videos because of crazy price increases with Adobe software.

Kies Minis

As the website is launched, I want to take the time to create posts that show behind-the-scenes of my work.

I also want to be able to create PDF tutorials or short video tutorials, and allow these to be open source and free for people to access regularly. While this section will focus on a behind-the-scenes look at things, I will also, from time to time, link to videos or to my Patreon page. If people would like to show appreciation for the work, then a simple donation tier is available, but nothing more.

I always want my painting to do the talking and for it to be a source of enjoyment for others, whether it’s through a photograph, a video, an instruction or a physically owned piece of my art. I love miniature and the community of people I have personally had the chance to meet at competitions, events or even via social media .

So I would like to welcome you to my space!
